After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Charles Malo began his career as a controller at Etcan, a division of Cascades, in 1990. He joined Cascades Containerboard Packaging when it was created in 1997 and worked his way up the ranks. Over the years, he became Director of Administration; Regional General Manager, Operations, for Central Canada; and Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer in the Corrugated Cardboard business line. In 2008, he also took over management of the folding carton division, becoming Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, Packaging. In April 2015, he was named Chief Operating Officer, overseeing not only transformation operations, but also the production of containerboard. He became President and Chief Operating Officer in January 2016. This appointment makes him the third President of Cascades Containerboard Packaging, succeeding Alain Lemaire and Marc-André Dépin. Like his predecessors, he embraces Cascades’ values and believes that everyone should work in a safe and secure environment. He continues to pursue the business objectives established in conjunction with the various management teams to ensure the growth of Cascades Containerboard Packaging and Cascades.Mr. Malo is well known in the industry for his knowledge and leadership. He is an active member of boards of directors for various associations, companies and non-profit organizations. For example, he currently sits on the board of the Fondation Hôpital Pierre-Boucher.

Jean-David Tardif Jean-David Tardif
Vice President, Operations

Jean-David holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Université de Sherbrooke, combined with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA). Jean-David began his career with Cascades as an intern. He quickly climbed the ranks and was exposed to various operational positions. From 1997 to 2002, he held the positions of maintenance and projects supervisor, production supervisor and finally production manager for the Kingsey Falls Paper mill.

Danick Lavoie Danick Lavoie
Vice President, Operations, Converting

Danick holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Wisconsin University and a CMA designation. He joined Cascades in 2001 in the Tissue Group as a controller for the Rockingham unit located in North Carolina. In 2005, he moved over to the Eau Claire plant in Wisconsin where he held the same position. In 2007, he joined the Cascades Containerboard Packaging group as Director of administration, Manufacturing. In July 2011, he accepted to fill the Mill Manager position in Niagara Falls. From April 2014 to December 2015, Danick acted as the General Manager for the Niagara Falls, Mississauga, Kingsey Falls and Cabano units before his most recent nomination in January 2016.

Vice-President, Operational Efficiency

Mario Nepton has begun his career in 1988 as Project Engineer, Supervisor, and Superintendent for Abitibi Consolidated. In 2002, he joined Cascades Boxboard Group – Jonquiere, a division of Cascades Canada ULC as Production Manager, later as Assistant Manager and in 2006, as General Manager. In 2010, Mario was appointed Regional General Manager for Cascades Containerboard Packaging and was responsible for Cascades Boxboard Group – Versailles, Cascades Boxboard Group – East Angus, Cascades Boxboard Group – Jonquiere and Cascades Containerboard Packaging – Kingsey Falls mills. In 2013, he was appointed Vice-President, Operational Efficiency at Cascades Containerboard Packaging Head Office.

Vice-President, Sales and MarketingConverting

Jean Parent began his career in 1990 as co-owner of a corrugated board company. When he joined Cascades Containerboard Packaging in 1998, he worked as Sales Manager for the Cascades Containerboard Packaging Vaudreuil plant. In 2000, he was promoted to the position of Regional General Manager for Western Canada. He was appointed Vice-President, Sales, Marketing and Innovation, Packaging in November 2007.

Robert Lanthier Robert Lanthier

Vice-President, Sales and MarketingMills

Robert Lanthier began his carreer in 1985 as Sales and Marketing Representative for Les Écussons Grand Prix. In 1987, he became Products Manager- Exports, for the Coopérative Fédérée de Québec, Dairy Division. In 1991, he was appointed Export Director for Groupe Lactel Inc., a mixed liability company who specializes in the transformation and marketing of dairy products on local and international markets. Ten years later in 2001, Robert Lanthier was hired by Cascades Containerboard Packaging as General Sales Manager for the containerboard sector, a position he held for more than 10 years. In June 2011, he was promoted Vice-President Sales, Marketing and Innovation for Cascades Containerboard Packaging containerboard and boxboard sectors.

Vice-President, Legal Affairs

From 1994 to 2001, Lucie-Claude Lalonde was Vice-President, Legal Affairs and Secretary for the Canam Manac inc. Group, a manufacturer of steel components and semi-trailers. From 2002 to 2003, she worked as Vice-President, Legal Affairs for Groupe Cirque du Soleil inc., an entertainment company. In July 2003, Lucie-Claude Lalonde joined Cascades Containerboard Packaging as Vice-President, Legal Affairs.

Patrick Chaperon Patrick Chaperon

Vice-President Operations

Patrick Chaperon began his career as an Auditor at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton. In 2003, he joined the Cascades Group as a Financial Analyst, and was appointed to the position of Director of Financial Accounting in 2005. In 2007, he transferred to the Cascades Containerboard Packaging Group and has been Director, Administration and Finance at ever since. Patrick Chaperon concurrently holds the professional titles of Chartered Accountant and Certified Management Accountant.
